Katie Stokes

Bachelor Occupational Therapy (Hons)

CO-OP Approach Trained Therapist

SOS Approach to Eating Trained Therapist

Katie is an OT born and bred in Geelong who has over 20 years experience. She has worked with children and their families both in Melbourne and Geelong regions, and started her career in neurological rehabilitation with both adults and children. She worked in a multi-disciplinary private practice setting in Melbourne for many years, progressing to Clinical Services Manager and OT team leader. She soon found that it was much more fun and rewarding supporting kids and their families and transitioned to paediatrics full time.  She developed her paediatric skills working in a Specialist School setting, and on the road as an outreach therapist to many mainstream primary and secondary schools throughout Melbourne. Katie also worked in Early Intervention at Gateways Support Services for several years, including time in an Autism Early Learning Program for kinder aged clients with high behaviour needs.

Katie started her private practice in 2005 when there was a huge gap in private OT services in the Geelong region. She enjoys helping families on their therapy journey to understand their child’s needs and teach them tips on how to make day to day life easier. Being a parent to two busy boys, and having a lived experience of specific learning needs, Katie feels well equipped to understand the children and families she is working with. Katie loves sharing her knowledge with teachers and schools across the Geelong region, and has positive relationships with many of these due to working with them for many years. Due to high demand for her quality, individualised and committed service, the practice continues to expand. She now leads a team of exceptional therapists who are skilled in helping children and their families to thrive.

When not at work you will find Katie spending time with her husband and 2 busy boys, most likely travelling somewhere for a camping adventure. And with a camera in her hand.
